Gameplay

  • Changed the way resources spawn. There are now tiles without resources on the map and fewer resources overall, which makes the game more of a challenge.

First of all, his update adds Fog of War to the map. Since this game is also about exploration and discovery, it's an overdue change!

Secondly, I improved the textures a lot. Water actually has depth now, which looks a lot better. I'm still not happy with some of the older UI layouts, but overall it's much better than before. I also made a little loading animation:

new loading spinner!


In the next update I'm changing the way colonies work, which will add more variety to the gameplay. Also adding some long overdue story elements.

This is a smaller update intented to fix some bugs that I found and wanted to fix. The next update will be a gameplay update though!

[ Patch 1.0.2 notes ]

As promised, this update is quite a lot bigger than the last one! First off, a new saving system has been added. The game is now saved automatically after every turn, and you can continue at any time from the menu.

You can now upgrade a Colony to a Stockade for the reasonable price of 20 wood. That allows you to build higher-level ships, but it comes with a tradeoff! Previously, you could build every unit right from the start, but that was quite unbalanced.

All of these changes required the AI to be reworked as well. The Ai should now be able to take advantage of the new features and hopefully be more of a challenge!
